Description

MACt Potassium Densifier is an industry-leading line of dust-proofing and densifying solutions for concrete floors. Formulated to reduce worker exposure to silica dust and enhance concrete performance, MACt Potassium Densifier penetrates deeply into the substrate, forming Calcium Silicate Hydrate. This reaction strengthens and hardens the concrete surface, improving wear resistance, gloss potential, and overall service life. Suitable for both new and existing concrete surfaces, MACt Potassium Densifier offers a versatile, high-quality path to safer, longer-lasting floors.

Key Features & Benefits

  1. Superior Dust Proofing
    • Reduces Silica Exposure: Minimises hazardous dust on concrete floors, promoting a healthier work environment.
    • Cleaner, Healthier Sites: Alleviates concerns surrounding airborne particles, ensuring safer conditions for workers and occupants.
  2. Enhanced Concrete Hardening
    • Deep Penetration: Quickly reacts with calcium hydroxide to form Calcium Silicate Hydrate, creating a denser, more resilient surface.
    • Improved Durability: Helps resist wear, abrasions, and chemical exposure, extending the functional life of the floor.
  3. High Gloss Potential
    • Polishing Advantage: Compatible with polishing techniques, enabling a higher sheen and clearer light reflection on densified surfaces.
    • Reduced Porosity: Leads to superior sheen retention and less susceptibility to staining.
  4. Versatile Formulations
    • Suitable for Various Concrete Types: Works effectively on new or old, dyed, polished, or standard concrete surfaces.
    • Rapid Dry & Low Odour Options: Accessible for a wide range of project requirements, ensuring flexible use in commercial, industrial, or retail environments.
  5. Easy Maintenance & Longer Floor Life
    • Less Dust & Debris: Denser floors generate less dust, making daily cleaning simpler and more cost-effective.
    • Long-Term Savings: Reduces the frequency of repairs and repolishing, resulting in improved ROI over time.

Pre-Application Surface Preparation & Checks

  1. Remove Coatings & Contaminants
    • Clean & Dry Surface: Ensure all membranes, sealers, adhesives, or release agents are stripped away for optimal densifier absorption.
    • Burnished Surfaces: Grind with 200 grit if necessary to expose enough aggregate for thorough penetration.
  2. Surface & Environmental Conditions
    • Temperature Requirements: Preferably less than 36°C (falling) or above 5°C (rising).
    • Test Small Area: Conduct a 1m² trial to determine appropriate coverage, influenced by temperature, humidity, substrate age, and porosity.

Application Guidelines

1. Cured Concrete (Honed or Trowelled)

  1. Mix Thoroughly
    • MACt Potassium Densifier is supplied ready-to-use; stir or shake before application.
  2. Apply at Determined Coverage
    • Hand Sprayer, Broom, or Microfibre Mop: Spread evenly, avoiding puddles.
    • Multiple Coats (Wet-on-Wet): Continue until substrate saturation; any remaining film after ~30 minutes can be removed with a dry microfibre mop if the floor is not to be ground further.

2. Fresh Concrete

  1. Apply to Clean, Newly Poured Surface
    • Determine Coverage through pre-application testing.
    • Hand Sprayer, Broom, or Microfibre Mop: Even distribution, no pooling, multiple coats if necessary.
  2. Saturation & Curing
    • Film Removal: Wipe away excess with a dry microfibre mop after ~10 minutes of saturation.
    • Allow to Dry: Once the densifier has been absorbed, apply a suitable curing membrane if specified, buffing off after full curing.

Typical Application Rates

  • 5–10 m²/L: Varies substantially based on concrete age, quality, original water content, and compressive strength.
  • High Water Addition: Older or watery mixes may need more densifier, while newer, well-compacted concrete demands less.

Technical Highlights

  • Ultimate Dust Proofing: Targets silica dust exposure, improving site safety and floor cleanliness.
  • Cross-Compatible: Works best within the MACt Blended Densifier system but is also suitable for stand-alone use.
  • Improves Floor Aesthetics: Fosters better gloss in polished finishes and reduces uneven absorbency.

Why Choose MACt Potassium Densifier?

  • Industry-Driven Innovation: Developed from expert feedback to limit silica dust and maximise floor performance.
  • Enhanced Longevity: Strengthens, densifies, and protects, minimising wear in high-traffic or commercial settings.
  • Cost-Effective Upkeep: Less frequent refurbishments and simpler cleaning routines yield lower life-cycle costs.
  • Flexible Use: Adapts to both fresh and cured concrete, as well as a range of finishing methods.
