MACt Grout is a specialised, ready-to-mix blend of cement, pozzolan, admixture, and plasticisers, ideal for filling and repairing voids, pinholes, and chipped corners in both concrete and GFRC pieces. Engineered to provide a durable, hard-setting finish, this premixed grout requires only water and pigment for easy customisation to match or complement your project’s colour palette. With excellent workability and a smooth, sandable texture, MACt Grout seamlessly integrates into existing concrete surfaces for a professional and long-lasting result.

Key Features & Benefits

  1. Versatile Application
    • Fills Voids & Pinholes: Effectively addresses larger imperfections in concrete or GFRC.
    • Corner Repairs: Ideal for mending chipped edges, ensuring a cohesive finish.
  2. Easy to Use
    • Simple Mixing: Add water and pigment to achieve a toothpaste-like consistency.
    • Customisable Colour: Adjust pigment levels to match or enhance existing tones.
  3. Hard-Setting Formula
    • Durable Finish: Forms a strong, non-shrinking layer when applied correctly.
    • Sandable Surface: Easily refined without cracking, providing a uniform, polished look.
  4. Enhanced Workability
    • Smooth Application: Maintains consistent flow and resists moisture absorption when the substrate is pre-dampened.
    • Versatile Consistency: Suitable for both fine pinhole repairs and larger gap fillings.

Recommended Usage Instructions

  1. Prepare the Grout
    • Mix MACt Grout: Combine the grout powder with water and desired pigment.
    • Achieve Toothpaste-Like Consistency: Ensure thorough blending for optimal texture and minimal lumps.
  2. Dampen the Substrate
    • Pre-Wet the Surface: Lightly moisten the concrete or GFRC to help the grout retain moisture and reduce cracking.
  3. Apply the Grout
    • Wear Gloves: Press grout firmly into voids, microcracks, and corners, using your hands for maximum control.
    • Address Large & Small Imperfections: Ensure even coverage without air pockets.
  4. Remove Excess Material
    • Clean While Workable: Wipe away surplus grout before it fully sets, preventing difficult sanding later.
  5. Curing & Sanding
    • Allow Several Hours: Let the grout cure (longer in cooler conditions).
    • Sand the Surface: Use 180–240 grit sandpaper for an even finish; handle corners manually to preserve edges.
  6. Repeat if Needed
    • Check for Imperfections: Reapply and sand again if any holes remain after the initial curing period.
  7. Final Finishing
    • Sand Entire Surface: Achieve a smooth, consistent texture with a final pass of 180–240 grit paper.
    • Clean & Seal: Remove dust with a damp cloth, then apply a suitable sealer for ongoing protection.

Helpful Tips

  • Colour Adjustment: If the cured grout appears lighter, add about 1.1–1.2 times the usual pigment to achieve desired depth.
  • Whole-Surface Grouting: Grout the entire area to avoid patchiness or discolouration from spot repairs.
  • Sealing Pinholes: MACt sealers won’t fill pinholes, so ensure they’re thoroughly grouted first.
  • Prompt Clean-Up: Remove excess grout quickly to prevent excessive sanding work later on.

Why Choose MACt Grout Mix?

  • Straightforward Mixing: Requires only water and pigment, saving time and reducing errors.
  • Consistent, Durable Results: Hard-setting formula resists cracking and shrinkage for long-lasting finishes.
  • Professional-Looking Repairs: Fills voids and smooths edges seamlessly for a flawless surface.
  • Versatility & Adaptability: Perfect for a wide variety of concrete and GFRC restoration or finishing needs.
MACt Grout Mix is a must-have for creating a polished, enduring finish on concrete and GFRC projects. Got any question?

Browse through our frequently asked questions to find answers on everything from mould preparation and casting techniques to finishing and long-term maintenance.

Australia’s warm and, in many regions, coastal climate necessitates adjustments during manufacturing. High temperatures can accelerate hydration, so controlled curing environments—such as covering pieces with plastic to retain moisture—are essential. Additionally, lower water-to-cement ratios and carefully selected admixtures help mitigate rapid evaporation and ensure that GFRC develops its designed strength and durability.

Manufacturers address these challenges by:

  • Using precision mixing equipment to achieve a uniform blend and ensure proper fibre distribution.
  • Fine-tuning spray parameters (such as pressure, nozzle design and technique) to avoid voids, pinholes and surface defects.
  • Regular maintenance of equipment and continuous operator training.
  • Adjusting admixture dosages as required to optimise workability and adhesion.

Future trends include increased automation—such as robotic spraying and digital mould design—as well as a greater focus on sustainable practices (e.g. incorporating recycled materials and eco-friendly admixtures). Advances in fibre treatment technology and computer-aided manufacturing are enabling more complex, custom-designed panels. Ongoing research is continually refining mix designs and curing methods to better suit Australia’s diverse environmental conditions.

GFRC is a composite product that combines high‐quality cement, fine aggregates, polymers and alkali‐resistant glass fibres – all premixed to the correct proportions. Its high strength‐to‐weight ratio, durability and capacity for being cast in thin, custom shapes make it ideal for creating stylish and long-lasting benches and tables for both indoor and outdoor use.

GFRC manufacturers must comply with Australian building codes and standards relating to precast concrete, structural performance and safety. This means that production processes, material testing and installation methods are stringently monitored and documented. Close collaboration with local certifying bodies ensures that GFRC products meet all necessary performance and regulatory requirements.

With our premix product, all the ingredients are already proportioned for optimal strength and workability. This means you can focus on preparing your moulds and executing a neat cast rather than measuring raw materials.

Moulds for benches and tables can be constructed from high-density foam, melamine, or even silicone for more intricate designs. It is essential that the mould is smooth, watertight and well supported. Pre-treat the interior with a quality release agent to ensure that the cured GFRC can be removed cleanly.
