The Makinex FAM-120 is an Australian-designed forced action mixer built for the materials a barrel mixer can't handle — semi-dry screed, GFRC, mortar, render and epoxy-bound aggregate. Its vertical paddle mixing action forces material through itself rather than tumbling it, producing a consistent, lump-free, homogeneous mix in a fraction of the time, with no free-fall segregation and no unmixed pockets.

Designed for Australian conditions and the demands of hire yards and construction sites, the FAM-120 pairs a sealed AC geared motor with a high-strength aluminium frame and epoxy-coated drum — components chosen for reliability and minimal downtime in harsh environments. Unlike many 120L pan mixers that need three-phase or 15A power, the FAM-120 runs off a standard 230V 10-amp wall socket with built-in thermal overload protection, so it works anywhere on site you can find a power point.

Why a Forced Action Mixer?

Conventional drum cement mixers rely on gravity — fine for wet concrete, hopeless for viscous, low-slump or fibre-loaded materials. A forced action mixer (also called a pan mixer, screed mixer or mortar mixer) drives paddles through a stationary drum, actively working the material for full wet-out of every particle.
