Owens Corning Cem-FIL AR Fibres 12mm for Concrete Reinforcement 3kg, 5kg and 13kg

Owens Corning Cem-FIL alkali-resistant (AR) glass fibers have been developed for use with cement-based products (glass-reinforced concrete [GRC], mortars, composite cement, etc.).

  • Excellent compatibility with cement matrix
  • Excellent workability even at high dosage
  • Increases chemical resistance (e.g. deicing products)
  • Extends long-term durability of concrete
  • Does not float or sink in concrete
  • Does not entrap air
  • Fast and uniform dispersion

Bundled alkali resistant glass fibers (AR glass fibers) are often used in Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) for several benefits:

  1. Increased flexural strength: Bundled AR glass fibers provide a higher level of flexural strength to GFRC, which makes it more resistant to bending and cracking.
  2. Improved durability: AR glass fibers are resistant to the alkali environment present in concrete, which means that they will not degrade or lose strength over time as a result of exposure to the alkali environment. This improves the overall durability of GFRC.
  3. Reduced cracking: AR glass fibers help distribute stress more evenly throughout the GFRC mix, which can reduce the likelihood of cracking.
  4. Improved impact resistance: Bundled AR glass fibers also provide improved impact resistance, which makes GFRC more resistant to damage from impact and vibration.
  5. Cost-effective: AR glass fibers are generally less expensive than traditional steel reinforcement, which can make GFRC more cost-effective to produce.
  6. Easy to install: AR glass fibers are easy to install and do not require any special tools or equipment.
  7. Lightweight: AR glass fibers are much lighter than traditional steel reinforcement, which makes GFRC much lighter as well. This makes it easier to handle and transport, and it also reduces the load on the building’s foundation.
  8. Environmentally friendly: AR glass fibers are a sustainable and environmentally friendly option, it can be recycled and does not produce any harmful emissions during production.

Overall, the use of bundled AR glass fibers in GFRC provides many benefits, including increased strength and durability, improved resistance to alkali environment, improved impact resistance, and cost-effectiveness, as well as better resistance to cracking and environmental factors.
