Description
MACt Lithium Densifier (2L)
MACt Lithium Densifier is a profession use lithium concrete densifier designed for concrete polishing and dust proofing. It is supplied ready for use for concrete floor polishing.
Typical Uses:
- Industrial
- Commercial
- Restaurants
- Retail stores
- Car parks
Lithium silicates penetrate more easily than that potassium or sodium silicate and react faster with the calcium hydroxide in turn creating Calcium Silicate Hydrate which will make the floor more durable, dense and makes the concrete stronger and more resistant from being penetrated.
Be very wary, not all lithium silicates are equally good at densifying floors, the concentration of lithium silicates varies from one manufacturer to another. This affects the densifiers efficiency in use for floors, so it is better to go for a material that is specifically manufactured for concrete flooring use. MACt Lithium Densifier is specifically designed for densification of concrete flooring.
Lithium has another, more useful action. Lithium silicates are known to help reduce Concrete Cancer. By adding lots of alkalis to concrete it is possible to make the silicate aggregates react with the alkalis and cause the Alkali Silica Reaction which is commonly referred to as Concrete Cancer. ASR is a really bad thing to happen and can causes the concrete to expand internally leading to the concrete to expand and crack, significantly damaging the concrete.
Be very aware that both sodium and potassium exacerbate and drive the ASR reaction and there are clauses in concrete standards to limit the content of sodium and potassium used on concrete. Pouring sodium and potassium silicates onto concrete drives the sodium and potassium content of the concrete up and can trigger or exacerbate the ASR problem.
Lithium has a different effect on the silicate aggregates and deactivates the silicate minerals and glasses in the aggregate, so Lithium silicates actively protect the concrete not only from the environment but also ASR degradation.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
- Lithium Silicates Penetrate extremely quickly and do not need to be “flushed in with extra water”
- Improves appearance and light reflection of concrete surfaces
- Actively protects against ASR.
- Reacts quickly within the concrete creating low porosity and high strength.
- Lower risk of leaving residue on the top of the surface
- Is cost efficient, while it is expensive it saves on your time and wear on your equipment and diamonds.
- The gloss is improved, and the resilience of the concrete is improved.
- Reduces staining
- Treated surfaces are easy to maintain
- Easy Application
PRE APPLICATION SURFACE PREPARATION AND CHECKS.
Protect all wall, skirtings and all surfaces not designated to get densified. Make sure that all coatings, penetrating sealers, membranes, release agents or any other surface contaminants are removed prior to densifying. Make sure the concrete surface is clean and dry to get best absorption into the surface. For highly burnished concretes grind with a 200 grit to expose aggregate before applying MACt Blended Densifier, this will ensure adequate absorption on densifier into the floor. Ensure the temperature is less than 36 oC and falling or 5 oC and rising before application. Test a sample size of 1sqm to be able to determine coverage rate. There are many factors that will determine coverage rate, they include temperature, humidity, ground temperature and porosity of the surface.
Application of the MACT LITHIUM DENSIFIER to cured concrete, honed or trowelled
Make sure to mix MACt Lithium Densifier well before use. MACT Lithium Densifier is supplied ready to use, apply at the rate determined in the pre application testing. Using a hand sprayer, a clean broom or microfibre mop, coat the surface of the concrete with an even layer of densifier. Do not allow the Densifier to Pool. Apply in several coats if required wet-on-wet depending on the absorbency of the concrete you are working on. The concrete is saturated when the MACT Lithium Densifier remains as a film for 30 minutes. Once saturated, if the floor is not going to be ground remove the film with a dry microfibre mop,
Application of the MACT LITHIUM DENSIFIER to fresh concrete
Make sure to mix MACt Lithium Densifier well before use. MACt Lithium Densifier is supplied ready to use, apply at the rate determined in the pre application testing. Using a hand sprayer, a clean broom or microfibre mop, coat the surface of the concrete with an even layer of densifier. Do not allow the Densifier to Pool. Apply in several coats if required wet-on-wet depending on the absorbency of the concrete you are working on. The concrete is saturated when the MACt Lithium Densifier remains as a film for 10 minutes. Once saturated, if the floor is not going to be ground remove the film with a dry microfibre mop. Once dry apply the specified curing membrane. After curing, buff off the curing compound.
APPLICATION RATES
The application rate will vary due to the age of the concrete, quality and the original compressive strength. A newly laid concrete will require less than an old concrete of the same strength. A concrete which had a “lot” of added water during laying will require the most densifier. The typically values in the range of 5 – 20 l per m-² can be expected and are given only as general guide line. There are several factors that will affect . You must determine just how much densifier is required for your concrete in the small test are and apply that rate to the whole floor.
